DBS owns trust. Trust Bank owns digital. Singapore Banking AI Visibility Index — Week 1
Week 1 index: who ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Mode name for Singapore banking, digital banks, and remittance.
This is Week 1 of the Singapore Banking AI Visibility Index — measuring which banks and fintechs AI engines name when people ask about savings, digital banking, remittance, and trust in Singapore.
The run draws from the AI Visibility Week 1 experiment (manifest 2026-06-29): locked prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, and Gemini, with three runs for most recommendation questions.
Headline finding
DBS owns trust prompts. Trust Bank owns digital. Wise owns remittance. Savings rates are contested.
Ask about safety, foreigners, or the best banking app and AI converges on DBS. Ask for the best digital bank and it converges on Trust. Ask how to send money abroad and it converges on Wise. Ask for the highest savings rate and the engines disagree.

What Week 1 shows
DBS is the AI trust brand. On safest bank, foreigners, and mobile app prompts, DBS is the clearest single-brand recommendation. SME prompts split between DBS and OCBC by use case, but DBS still anchors the “default local bank” narrative.
Trust Bank won the digital-bank category. ChatGPT and Perplexity consistently name Trust as the all-round digital pick. MariBank appears when the question is framed around no-hoops savings yield. GXS appears when Grab integration matters. Models also surface Reddit-style caveats about GXS support quality — digital banks are legitimate, but framed as secondary accounts.
Savings-rate answers are unstable. The same “highest interest” prompt can surface Citi at 7.51%, Standard Chartered Bonus$aver at 5.85%, or practical salary accounts near 4%. AI visibility here rewards whoever owns the headline rate in comparison blogs — not necessarily the rate a salary earner will earn.
Wise owns remittance — and citation share. Wise is the strongest single-brand consensus in the banking set. wise.com also appears heavily in expat and digital-bank answers, meaning Wise’s content ecosystem shapes more than transfer prompts alone.
PayNow reframes e-wallets. Asked which e-wallet to use, engines often lead with PayNow via a bank app, then GrabPay and ShopeePay as lifestyle layers. The category question gets answered as infrastructure first.
Citation landscape
Third-party comparison sites dominate banking answers more than bank homepages:
| Domain pattern | Role in Week 1 answers |
|---|---|
| wise.com | Remittance + expat + digital bank comparisons |
| singsaver.com.sg / moneysmart.sg | Savings rates, remittance, product roundups |
| thekopinotes.com / misslobang.com | Digital bank and wallet explainers |
| reddit.com | Trust/reliability caveats (GXS, app UX) |
Bank .com.sg sites |
Secondary — product confirmation, not leadership |
Implication for AEO: banks that are absent from SingSaver, MoneySmart, Growbeansprout, and similar roundups are underrepresented even when products are competitive.
What this index is not
- Not a product review. Presence in AI answers is not a rating of rates, fees, or service quality.
- Not financial advice. Rate figures in AI answers change and are often conditional.
- Not multi-market. SEA country experiments (MY/ID/JP) are covered in a separate localization analysis.

Sources and methodology
Week 1 of the Singapore Banking AI Visibility Index. Category prompts from the AI Visibility Week 1 manifest (id 2026-06-29), brand “general,” Singapore country parameter unless noted. Engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini. Recommendation prompts typically ran 3 times; brand prompts once. Scoring reflects primary recommendations and repeated brand leadership across runs — not product endorsement.

Frequently asked questions
- Which bank does AI recommend most often in Singapore?
- Across Week 1 prompts, DBS is the most frequent default for safety, foreigners opening an account, mobile banking apps, and SME business banking. Trust Bank leads dedicated digital-bank prompts. Wise leads remittance. There is no single winner for “best savings account” — engines split by use case and advertised rate.
- Does AI prefer digital banks or traditional banks in Singapore?
- It depends on the prompt. “Best digital bank” answers converge on Trust Bank, with MariBank for no-hoops savings and GXS for Grab users. “Safest bank,” “best for foreigners,” and “best mobile app” still default to DBS and the Big Three. Digital banks are framed as supplements, not full replacements.
- Which remittance brand wins AI visibility in Singapore?
- Wise. On “best way to send money internationally” and “best fintech for overseas remittance” prompts, Wise is the consensus pick across all four engines. Revolut, Instarem, Remitly, and DBS Remit appear as secondary options.
- Why do AI engines disagree on the highest savings rate?
- Models cite different headline figures without consistent effective-rate framing. Week 1 runs surfaced Citi Wealth First at 7.51%, Standard Chartered Bonus$aver at 5.85%, and practical salary-linked accounts like OCBC 360 around 4.45%. Buyers who trust a single AI answer can get a misleading “highest rate.”
- How was this index measured?
- Citable ran category prompts from the Week 1 AI Visibility experiment (manifest 2026-06-29) across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, and Gemini — typically three runs per prompt for recommendation questions, one run for brand-reputation prompts. Results are scored for who gets named as the winner or primary recommendation, not product quality.
